Quote of the Day

Quote of the day:

Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world. Abraham Lincoln

God Bless our new president. He has a tough road ahead of him.

Yes he does. And no matter what our political leanings are we need to hope that whatever President Obama does we will benefit as a country. No matter what he does and no matter about the 'feel good' propaganda right now there will be controversy just as there has been for every President. I remember when President Truman left office he was portrayed in the popular press as being the worst President in history. Obviously, historians have changed our mind about his time in office. I think the same thing may happen for GWB once we have time enough to digest everything that has happened. It takes time to evaluate events and put them into context. RW

  2. A letter to the editor of our paper this morning compared some of our presidents. Talking about civil rights, ""FDR imprisoned 100,000 citizens without cause or evidence. Harry Truman invited the Koreans to attack. We were humilitated. Vietnam lasted through 4 presidents. The Gulf War was a superior effort, but our veterans have not been well-treated. Mr. GWB had the distinction of starting and ending a war in his own administration. The next president has to clean up the mistakes. There have been no attacks on American soil unless you consider 9-11, and there has been much destruction of the terrorist infrastructure." It is amazing to me how soon we forget what we have just lived through.

  3. President Obama.. Not my choice yet now has become MY president. I pray for his strength and wisdom as the full weight of the office that he has taken comes to bear on his shoulders. I also hope that all inside the beltway and outside the beltway will only see a leader and not just the fist "African American" president. I look forward to see how we as a country rally behind our president. Mike
