It's the Dog Days

It was a good day, but an extremely hot day. We started out with 90% humidity today and it did not get any better. The men went to play golf at Disney this morning, and the women went to Celebration, the Disney designed small town nearby for lunch at Columbia Restaurant. In one of the beautiful park areas of Celebration, I found someone enjoying the 'dog days of summer'. This was a very huge dog and he was loving it. For one brief moment, I thought about joining him.

And then I get home and my wonderful surprise was here. I won the drawing last week at "At Home with the Farmer's Wife" and Suzanne sent me the book I won, Cindy LaFerle's "Writing Home." Thank you so much, Suzanne, I will enjoy this and will save it for reading in the mountains of Montana next month.

Rain is threatening, so hope it cools down soon.

  1. Hi, Susan. just dropping in to say hello. That dog is ginormous. I wonder how much he eats each day? How do the men golf in that kind of heat?

  3. I'm so glad it arrived safely. Enjoy the book.

The last time I was in Orlando (the Farmer was golfing - do we see a pattern here?) I went to Celebration. To be honest with you I found it to be a bit strange. It was like driving through a movie set. It didn't seem real but it certainly was planned. Try to stay cool.

  4. TROUT here - yes it was hot hot hot but an occasional small breeze helped ease the situation. any holes in the hollows of the course were worse for no air. But we all had a decent game and good natured kidding helped ease the 100 degree index as well as no waiting for the next hole overall! For me I think it was my golf swan song for this summer till we return next fall - flustrating year for me but improvement at the end!!

  5. The fountain looks cool and refreshing but I would totally wilt in the heat and humidity.

  6. That heat must be terrible. I am not used to humidity and it just saps your energy. I just saw the weather forecast for the southeastern part of our country. I hope you can stay indoors near air conditioning. Congrats on winning the book.

  7. No, we grew up in the city 100 miles north, moved to a small town 20 miles east 37 years ago and moved to this, our adopted home town, 21 years ago. It's the longest I've ever lived in one house!
