Our neighbor has some beautiful hydrangeas in her yard. These flowers are so amazing to me. The color depends on how much acid there is in the soil. I have a friend in Texas, who says her daughter has beautiful blue hydrangeas in her Texas garden.
These two pictures are from the same plant here in Florida. I think this is the most beautiful flower.
On the other hand, we decided when we had to cut our hibiscus hedge way back because of frost damage this winter, that we would throw in a package of cucumber seeds under the hibiscus came back. Well, the cukes have gone crazy and they really taste good. There will be plenty more.
I love hydrangeas too. They are so soft and beautiful looking. Good idea planting the cuke seeds. I am thinking of cucumber, tomato and onion salad. Yum!
ReplyDeleteAren't they beautiful flowers. If they were fragrant they'd drive folks mad.
ReplyDeleteI had a hydrangea at my house years ago, the blooms on it were dark purple. People used to stop and come to my door, to ask how I got it to bloom that color. I had no idea, it just happened. It was gorgeous though.
ReplyDeleteWe just planted hydrangeas over the weekend. Some were like yours and others are cone shaped with white blooms. They do very well here in the mountains if they don't get too much afternoon soon. I'm so glad to hear they do well in Florida - I didn't know that.
ReplyDeleteI like to use the leaves on cheese trays. They look so "Barefoot Contessa-ish."
