Just a small delay

After such a delay in blogging and feeling guilty about it every day, I think it is time to tell you I will be taking a break.  After living so many years, it has been quite easy to readjust plans to go on.  I am just thankful that we can still make plans.

The last few weeks have been spent eating out of the freezer in anticipation of going north west for the summer.  We keep a running tab pinned on the freezer telling us what lies inside and therefore all meals are planned on eating it up in a timely fashion.  Everything was moving along quite well until the Trout decided to have a check up with his doctor.  The doctor immediately set him up with a surgeon and just like that, surgery is scheduled for Tuesday.  Our plans were to leave on Wednesday morning.

It seems the complicated surgery he had last September while out in Montana now needs revision as a hernia under the incision has occurred.  That means no driving for 3 weeks and all the lifting restrictions that go with it.

We had originally canceled all plans for going to France in May, when we usually go, after my knee surgery in December.  In hindsight, that was a very good idea.  We have made plans for stomping around Provence  in late October, so that seems to be working out well also.

We will take each day as it comes and be thankful we are as healthy as we are.  Our love for travel will not stop.  The Trout's fly fishing will continue in Montana...just a bit later.  All is well and I will be back shortly.

  1. Susan I will really miss your posts, but your time and health must come first. I hope that you do not completely stop blogging and that it will only be a break. As you know we will all be around when you come back, which hopefully you will. Meanwhile I wish The Trout all the very best with his surgery and I hope that you will still be going North but a little later than planned. I wish you both well until we hear from you once more Diane

  2. Life seems to give us some nasty surprises that make us change our plans. They say there is a reason for everything, Don't feel guilty about taking a break from blogging. I always enjoy reading about your recipes and your adventures.
Sending good vibes your way with your mate's impending surgery.
    Take good care!

  3. Take care Susan - I'll be thinking of you and the Trout.

  4. Life does have a way of throwing a few curves our way at times. I hope that all goes well with The Trout's surgery and recovery so that you both can get on with what you enjoy. I'll be wishing you both well and look forward to your return to our blogging "circle".

  5. That's what life is all about! Good luck with The Trout's surgery and here's wishing him a speedy recovery so that you can get on the road soon. You take care, Susan! Till later, my friend...

  6. Dear Susan, I'm sorry you're having these difficulties just now, and will miss your posts, but quite understand that you need to take a break....We will rejoice when you are back, all of us who so enjoy reading your blog.

I think it must be good that this was discovered before beginning the trip so nothing would be happening while you are far from home. And I wish you "alles gute" for the Trout's future surgery and your travel plans.

  7. Hi Susan, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, but I'm happy to hear that things will be back to "normal" in a few weeks. I hope you can enjoy your break.

  8. Susan,

I shall miss you and your friendly comments but you have to do what you have to do. I wish you both a happy and healthy summer.

  9. I'm so sorry to read that Dale has to have surgery again and your trip to Montana will be delayed. Prayers are coming your way, Susan, that all goes well and he recovers quickly. Life does become more uncertain as we get older. What more can we do than enjoy each day to the fullest and roll with the punches. I know there is a big trout just waiting to be caught.

  10. Life is full of surprises! Some good, some not so much. Good luck to your Trout and I'm sure you'll be on the road in no time at all.

  11. I am so sorry to hear this Susan. Things seem to come up and complicate things more and more as we get older. I love your phrase "I am just thankful that we can still make plans." Isn't that the truth!

I hope the Trout improves everyday and we'll all be thinking of you both. Take it easy and take care of each other.
    Big hugs,

  12. All will be well, Susan, and I know you two will have just as wonderful a journey as you planned. What's a few weeks? It will give you a chance to make sure all is gone from the freezer. ;)

Hugs to you and the Trout and keep us posted.

  13. Susan, so sorry to hear about the Trout. I will pray for a successful surgery and fast recovery. Also God's peace for both of you. Will miss your sweet presence in the blogosphere. Come back when you can. Godspeed!

  14. Oh, Susan. I will be praying for the Trout and I hope you will find an opportunity to let us know how he is doing (I know you may not have a chance... so just know we will be holding you both in our thoughts and prayers). blessings ~ tanna

  15. Hope things went well on Tuesday, thinking about you......
