I am almost done!

For Mother's Day, my daughter gifted me with me a yarn and a pattern for knitting socks.  She reasoned that it does get cold in the winter in Florida and thought I could use them.  I started them in Montana, but then dropped a stitch or two and with complete frustration, put that knitting away.

This last week I have been at it again.  I finished the first sock and this morning started the second.  There is a way to knit both socks on two circular needles at the same time, but I have not taken the time to learn the manipulation needed to do this.  I am totally content knitting socks on two circular needles, one sock at a time.

This fun pattern is called "Laughing Matters" and the yarn is "Aussi Sock", made in Australia from 90% Aussie Merino and 10% nylon.  Color is called "faded valentine."  Thank you Knit Purl Hunter for this pattern.

  1. I wish I had the patience to do that Susan. It must be very calming, something I could definitely use more of lately. Going to be cool tonight down on the Gulf coast. You just might need some socks.

  3. Susan,

I have tried to knit them but they don't fit! I need a pattern with some give as straight knitting makes them "unstretchable". Yours are beautiful and it does get cold in Florida.

We are glad to be back. If you ever get a chance to go to A Good Yarn in Sarasota, you will not be disappointed.

    Have a great weekend!

  5. Knitting to me is like calculus to a dog. I sit and stare at talented knitting friends making sweaters between ferry commutes, and realize I better stick to gardening and cooking, I could strangle myself with yarn or point an eye out with those needles. Nope, knitting is too dangerous for me. Lovely socks!

  7. I can crochet with the best of them, but I never quite got the knack of knitting. Pretty yarn!

  10. I never was able to get the hang of knitting so I am always envious of those who can. Those socks will keep your tootsies warm this winter!

  11. Two socks at once. Mercy! I've always wanted to learn to knit but just never did. Love the yarn and that intricate pattern. Does it really get cold enough in Florida to wear wool socks???

  12. I have not knitted socks in years. One at a time was all I ever tried but I quite often hashed up turning the heel!!!! Diane

  13. So beautiful!!! I'm going to forward that to my mom, she is the knitter. And even though I'm usually not much of a pink person, I love that yarn!
